Build your BJJ gameplan online in a DIY tool
Before I tell you what this Brazilian jiu-jitsu gameplan is about, let's have a look at the definition from Cambridge Dictionary:
“A plan for achieving success”
The definition speaks for itself.
- How many times do you forget techniques?
- How many mobile phone notes do you have with a pseudo-gameplan?
- How many times have you watched a Youtube technique video, then struggle to find it?
If your answer is “yes”, you need to check out the new GrapplersGameplan.
You probably have done hundreds of times the simplest combination: `Armbar ==> triangle, triangle ==> Omoplata`.
Here is the diagram:
In the beginning, when you don’t have a big box of tricks, it is easy to remember a few moves. But when you need to have a full gameplan with many possibilities, your mobile phone notes won’t be enough.
Visualize how techniques flow and fit together. It is crucial, not only for the 9-to-5 hobbyists but also for the savvy jiu-jitsu competitors.
Beginners, what are your gameplans?
Every time I speak to jiu-jitsu guys before a competition, at a lower rank, I ask what their gameplans are. The usual answer is what are you talking about? I ask if they would like to pass or play guard. About 95% of people I have asked the last few years said: “I don’t know”.
Sometimes I get an answer like “pass guard”. The follow up question is “do you know any takedowns, just in case your opponent would also like to pass your guard?”.
I noticed since my first jiu-jitsu competition, the winners know what they are doing, one move after another. They had a primary guard, primary sweep, repeating the same things match after matches.
