I would be very interested to head about the Schema design experiences you had at Paypal. Everyone would hit this problem first. Do you design the graph based on how entities exist in the real world? Do you design based on how clients would consume the data?

Regarding to “side effects” you mentioned, I am wondering if you are taking in consideration that resolvers could be a function and make service calls, like your examples.
